Houmtna is operated from Morocco. The data controller is Houmtna, reachable via our contact form. This policy is governed by Moroccan law, in particular Law n° 09-08 on the protection of personal data and the oversight of the Commission Nationale de Contrôle de la Protection des Données à caractère Personnel (CNDP).

To create an account we collect your email address and a display name. When you publish a review we store its text (positive points, negative points and any advice), your resident status, how long you have lived there where relevant, the ratings you give across eight categories (safety, culture, public transport, healthcare, schools, sport and leisure, shops, and the environment), and the place concerned. If you save places or report content, we also store those actions.

We do not collect phone numbers, profile photos, or IP addresses within the application. Only initials derived from your display name are shown, and search is processed without keeping any history.

What is public: your display name, approved reviews, their ratings, and the fact that you voted on a review are visible to everyone so the site can show community signals. What is private: your email is never shown on the site or via the public API and is accessible only to administrators for support; your saved places are visible only to you; reports you submit are visible only to moderators, who never reveal your identity.

Your data is used only to run the platform: to show your reviews and scores, let you sign in, and keep the community trustworthy. Resident status and time lived help readers judge how relevant a review is; activity patterns such as sudden bursts of reviews or many accounts created together may be flagged for manual review to detect fraud. These signals support human moderation and never automatically block or remove anyone.

The site is hosted on Vercel and your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL). Supabase manages sign-in and stores your password in encrypted form; it also keeps server-side authentication logs, including IP addresses, under its own terms. We share personal data with these providers only as needed to operate the service, and we never sell it.

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and all content you authored — reviews, ratings, votes, reports and saved places. Approved reviews stay published as part of the site; a review you delete is removed permanently.

Under Law n° 09-08 you have the right to access, rectify, object to and delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Requests are handled manually: write to us via our contact form and we will respond as soon as possible. Account deletion also removes your email from our authentication provider.

By using Houmtna you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

You must be a real person using your own account. Create one account only, and do not use the service for anyone else without permission.

Publish only honest, respectful reviews based on your own genuine experience of a place. Defamatory, discriminatory, unlawful, sexually explicit, or clearly false content is not accepted, nor is spam, advertising, or attempts to manipulate scores (such as multiple reviews of the same place or coordinated voting).

Every review is held as pending and is published only after human moderation. We may refuse, edit, hide, or delete any content that breaks these terms, and we may limit or suspend accounts that repeatedly do so, without prior notice.

To help moderation, reviews include context about residency and time lived, and certain activity patterns may be flagged for review. Flagging does not by itself remove content; a moderator decides. You can report other users' content you believe is non-compliant.

You are solely responsible for what you publish. Houmtna acts as a host within the meaning of applicable law and is not liable for users' statements. You are also responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for any activity on your account.

We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, is used to abuse the platform, or is flagged for fraud after review. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

Houmtna does not set advertising or tracking cookies by default.

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and Mediavine Grow to serve advertising. Both set cookies and process personal data under their own privacy policies, and may transfer data outside Morocco (notably to the United States). They are loaded only after you accept non-essential cookies.

You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link on this page. To opt out of Google Analytics, use the tools provided by Google; for Mediavine Grow, see Mediavine's privacy policy.

The only information stored locally on your device is your language and theme (light or dark) choice, so you do not have to reconfigure it on each visit.

All content on Houmtna (logos, texts, structure, code) is protected by intellectual-property law and remains the property of Houmtna, except for reviews published by users.

By publishing a review, you retain authorship and grant Houmtna a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to reproduce and display it within the service.

The names of cities, neighborhoods, and provinces mentioned are in the public domain.

The scores and reviews published reflect the experience and opinion of their authors and do not constitute professional advice. Houmtna does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the reviews.

Houmtna cannot be held liable for decisions made on the basis of content published on the site.

The site is provided "as is". We strive to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
