Our mission

About Houmtna

Houmtna is the community platform for honest neighborhood reviews in Morocco — written by residents, for residents. Every rating comes from real lived experience, never from algorithms.

Choosing where to live is one of the most important decisions a person makes, yet the information that matters most — safety after dark, the real cost of living, how a neighborhood actually feels to live in — is scattered, outdated, or simply missing. Houmtna exists to close that gap. We build a shared, community-run memory of Morocco's neighborhoods, so that every newcomer can make a confident choice and every resident's experience counts.

Why community neighborhood ratings matter

Official sources tell you where a neighborhood is. They rarely tell you what it is like to live there. That knowledge lives with the people who actually live in it — and it is too valuable to stay private.

Decisions worth getting right

Rent, schools, and daily life are decided by where you live. A reliable community rating helps families, students, and newcomers avoid costly mistakes before they sign a lease.

Knowledge that stays with residents

Years of local experience disappear when people move on. Houmtna keeps that knowledge in one trusted place, available to the next person who needs it.

A collective voice

One opinion is anecdotal. Thousands of honest reviews become a shared record that represents a neighborhood fairly — not the loudest voice, but the real one.

How Houmtna works

The model is deliberately simple so that every resident can contribute, and every score stays transparent.

  1. 1

    Residents share what they know

Anyone who lives in, used to live in, or has spent real time in a neighborhood writes a structured review — pros, cons, practical advice, and how long they lived there.

  2. 2

    Reviews are moderated, then published

Every review passes through moderation before it goes live. This keeps the feed honest, removes spam and attacks, and protects the integrity of each score.

  3. 3

    Individual reviews become community scores

Approved reviews roll up into a transparent neighborhood score. The number of contributing reviews is always shown next to the score, so credibility is visible at a glance.

Rating per neighborhood

Each neighborhood is rated across the dimensions that actually shape daily life. Residents score each one, and the combination builds a complete, comparable picture of a place.

  • Safety
  • Culture
  • Public transport
  • Healthcare
  • Schools & education
  • Sport & hobbies
  • Shops
  • Environment

A neighborhood's overall score is the average of its residents' reviews — never an estimate, never generated by AI.

Sharing valuable information

A rating is only useful when it comes with context. On Houmtna, residents share the practical knowledge that makes a score meaningful:

  • What works well in the neighborhood, and what to watch out for — in residents' own words.
  • Real, lived experience: how long someone lived there, and whether they are a current or former resident.
  • Practical advice for newcomers — from the best streets for families to the commute that nobody warns you about.
  • Official, factual references per place: postal codes, administrative data, and map location — kept separate from opinions.

How we keep it trustworthy

A neighborhood's reputation affects rent and property values, so the incentives to manipulate it are real. Trust is engineered into Houmtna from the ground up.

Human reviews only

Every score comes exclusively from approved resident reviews. No AI generates or alters an opinion or a rating anywhere on the platform.

Transparent moderation

Reviews are checked against clear public guidelines. When a review breaks the rules — duplicate, spam, or fraud — a moderator archives it with an explicit reason, never deleted without a trace. And once published, reviews can be approved or disapproved by the community, so the most useful ones rise to the top.

Active anti-fraud

We monitor for manipulation — sudden rating spikes, clustered accounts, coordinated posting — and act on it. Every account is also limited to one active review per place and 5 places total, which stops a single account from skewing a score or flooding moderation. Scores reflect residents, not interests.

Our principles

  • Every score is built only from approved community reviews.
  • No AI-generated opinions or ratings — ever.
  • Moderation is transparent, with public guidelines anyone can read.
  • A city and a province that share a name remain two distinct places, never merged.
  • Any commercial content is clearly labeled and never influences a score or a ranking.
